As of February 2025, the latest changes to the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) include the following key updates:
- Significant Reduction in Annual Allocations
The federal government has confirmed that the annual allocation for the BC Provincial Nominees in 2025 is 4,000 — a 50% reduction compared to 2024. This adjustment means that the number of available immigration spots within the province will be further limited. - Suspension of Invitation Issuance
Since the last draw on December 10, 2024, no invitations to apply (ITA) have been issued in 2025. The invitation process for all categories is currently on hold, and further procedures are still under development. - Temporary Closure of international student streams
At present, all international student streams are closed and not accepting new registrations. The opening date and specific details for any new international student stream remain to be announced, so applicants should stay alert for future policy updates. - Ongoing Availability of Certain Streams
Despite the overall reduction in allocations, health Authority stream and entrepreneur stream will remain open, providing immigration opportunities for eligible applicants. - Expected Increase in Processing Times
The BCPNP is actively planning its 2025 allocation, including the invitations to apply (ITAs) and the future opening of the international student streams. With the significant reduction in the nomination allocation for BC, it is anticipated that processing times for applications across various categories may be extended. Applicants are advised to prepare for longer wait times.
